Наукова школа кріобіології стовбурових клітин і тканинної інженерії

Наукову школу започатковано у 1999 р., коли доктор біологічних наук, професор Олександр Юрійович Петренко очолив відділ кріобіохімії ІПКіК НАН України, заснований його вчителем професором Аполлоном Максимовичем Білоусом.
Основні напрямки досліджень:
• Властивості стовбурових клітин при 3D культивуванні в складі сфероїдів, гідрогелів і макропористих матриць
• Кріоконсервування стовбурових клітин в суспензії та в складі тканиноінженерних конструкцій
• Терапевтична ефективність клітин при експериментальній трансплантації
• Гіпотермічне зберігання органів для трансплантації
Результати наукових досліджень О.Ю. Петренка представлені у більш ніж 500 наукових публікаціях, серед яких 14 патентів, 2 монографії. О.Ю. Петренко є автором і співавтором більш ніж 40 статей, опублікованих у журналах 1 та 2 квартелів, має індекс Гірша за Google Scholar – 25, за Scopus – 20.
За плідну наукову діяльність удостоєний Державної премії України в галузі науки і техніки, премії Президії НАН України імені О.В. Палладіна, Пам’ятної відзнаки НАН України, стипендії Харківської обласної держадміністрації в галузі медицини імені І.І. Мечникова.
О.Ю. Петренко є професором кафедри UNESCO, професором кафедри біохімії Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна, де викладає авторський курс «Стовбурові клітини в біології і медицині». На базі ІПКіК НАН України викладає навчальні дисципліни за спеціальністю 091 – Біологія. Олександр Юрійович підготував 1 доктора і 21 кандидата наук.
О.Ю. Петренко є членом редакційних колегій закордонних та вітчизняних наукових журналів. Працював запрошеним вченим в Університетах Великобританії, Франції, Канади. Виступав науковим керівником в грантах «Wellcome Trust», УНТЦ, спільних українсько-ізраїльського, українсько-російського, українсько-чеського наукових проєктів. Зараз є керівником проєкту Національного Фонду Фундаментальних Досліджень України та відповідальним виконавцем з української сторони проєкту “Visegrad+” та консорціуму EU HORIZON-MSCA-Doctoral Network CryoStore.

The scientific school was founded in 1999 when Prof. Oleksandr headed the Department of Cryobiochemistry, which was established by his teacher, Prof. Apollon M. Bilous.
Scientific activity:
• Properties of stem cells in 3D culture within spheroids, hydrogels, macroporous scaffolds
• Cryopreservation of stem cells in suspension and as part of tissue engineering structures
• Therapeutic effectiveness of cells in experimental transplantation
• Hypothermic storage of organs for transplantation
Prof. Petrenko is author of more than 500 publications, including 2 monographs, 14 national patents, 102 journal papers and book chapters. Among these publications, there are more than 40 articles published in journals with Q1 and Q2 rankings. His H-index: 20 (Scopus).
Prof. Petrenko was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, the Prize of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine named after O.V. Palladin, Memorial Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Price for Outstanding Scientists of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration in the field of medicine named after I.I. Mechnikova.
Olexander Yu. Petrenko is a professor of the UNESCO Chair in Cryobiology, a professor of the biochemistry department of V.N. Kharkiv National University. Karazina, where he teaches the author's course "Stem cells in biology and medicine". At IPCC lectures academic disciplines in specialty 091 – Biology.
Prof. Petrenko was the supervisor of 1 D.Sc. and 21 PhD.
Oleksandr Yu. Petrenko is a member of editorial boards of foreign and Ukrainian scientific journals. He worked as a visiting scientist at the Universities of Great Britain, France, and Canada. He acted as a scientific supervisor in grants of the Wellcome Trust, STCU, joint Ukrainian-Israeli, Ukrainian-Russian, Ukrainian-Czech scientific projects. Currently, he is the head of the project of the National Fund for Fundamental Research of Ukraine and the responsible executor from the Ukrainian side of the "Visegrad+" project and the EU HORIZON-MSCA-Doctoral Network CryoStore consortium.
